It Was a Dark and Stormy Night by Janet and Allan Ahlberg

Dark and Stormy Night

The storytelling adaptation was produced by wizardpresents and performed by Danya Miller and Louise Coigley, on tour and then at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (at the Scottish Storytellers Centre) in 2009. It was voted into the top five of the children's shows at the Festival.

A small, brave boy named Antonio is kidnapped by brigands and carried off to their secret cave in the Italian mountains. Bored, the chief demands that Antonio tells a story; so he weaves an incredible tale of bears on beaches and bats in castles and the Thingy that lives in the moat, which enthrals his captors. But can he be clever enough to trick them and make his escape?

… a charming, witty, yarn-within-a-yarn that will captivate children as much on bright, sunny days, as on dark and, stormy nights.

‘Engaging and captivating.....great for firing up little imaginations.’
